WYAN YEUNG LI-SHUNG 楊理崇
BDes, BA, MArch, FCSD, RIBA, HKIA, Registered Architect
Wyan is a "slash": he is a practising architect, spatial designer, visual communicator and design educator, who engages with a variety of media as his canvas. He received his Bachelor of Design in Communication Design from the Swinburne University of Technology, Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design, and his Master of Architecture degree from the University of Hong Kong. Currently he is pursuing a master's degree in Art and Cultural Enterprise at Central Saint Martins.
Wyan's interest and background situates at the intersection of advertising, architecture, fashion, graphic and spatial design. His design/artwork often explores the idea that memory - although transitory - is immortal by capturing a specific time and space through photography, painting, installation and graphic illustration. His works have been awarded/ shortlisted in a number of international design competitions in Hong Kong, Japan, Denmark, U.K. & U.S. His other exploratory initiatives include collaborative projects with the local communities and other social artists in order to explore urban spatial issues within the larger community, which hopefully could cause positive influence on the viewer.
From 2014 to 2015 Wyan was the mentor in the international Icograda-ADAA (Adobe Design Achievement Awards) Mentorship Program, organized by Icograda International Council of Communication Design. In 2015 he gave summer course in the M+ Summer Camp "Unframed", organized by the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (Hong Kong). Currently he is the part-time lecturer & dissertation supervisor of BA(Hons) Graphic Design programme at the Hong Kong College of Technology.
He is the Fellow of Chartered Society of Designers (FCSD), the chartered member of Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the member of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA).
